Hatch Cover Crane

Overhead Crane

We have specially designed the Marine Travelift Hatch Cover Crane for removing and replacing heavy hatch covers on ships. With the help of our cranes, removal of these hatch covers becomes a much easier job, which results in time and labor savings.

Some of the key features of our Hatch Cover Crane include:
  • Low Height
A low height allows hatch covers to be handled without the inconvenience of having to swing the self-unloader boom to the side of the ship.
  • Travel System
Our main box girder is supported at the ends by flanged wheel dollies, which travel on permanently mounted fixed rails on the ship deck.
  • Mechanically Balanced Drive System
Drives on all four wheels prevent yaw and assure traction. A hydraulic motor for the drive system has a planetary gear reducer with final chain drive to all four wheels. Hydraulic motion control valves prevent over-speeding and provide smooth deceleration.
  • Hydraulic Systems
The hydraulic system (available in diesel or electric) is utilized for hoisting, traveling and braking. Our cranes feature a dual hydraulic cylinder to lift hatch covers. Plus, our hoist cylinder has a hydraulic counter balance valve that requires a "power down".
  • Corrosion Resistance
Our machines are specially designed to withstand harsh salt water conditions and resist corrosion which can shorten the life of your investment.
  • Operator Comfort & Visibility
We've centralized all crane controls inside the operator's station for easier operation. Plus, our operator station is optimized for maximum visibility during travel and cover handling.
  • Easy Inspection & Maintenance
With access covers in the girder, inspections and maintenance are convenient.
  • Safety Features
The safety of your workers is of paramount concern to us. For this reason, we've included "dead man" controls that default the drive controls to neutral. Plus, we've integrated a series of warning alarms that alert the operator to unsafe conditions.
